93.1 Real FM – “The People’s Choice” – A Big Radio Family (The Pioneers Series 2017- 3rd Feature)

I am a loyal listener of the 93.1 Real FM radio station program known as the Gospel Plane. It starts at 3am in the morning (this is the check in time) and gives you uninterrupted Gospel music up to 6am (time of the flight). Interaction on the program begins at this time. From 6am the program usually entails prayers for the nation, a song for the nation, a call-in segment, and ends with a sermon from Pastor Joel Osteen. Some days, guests on the program include pastors and gospel artistes. The call-in segment does not only allow greetings, but it also allows people to speak about issues affecting them, learn from others who have been through similar experiences, receive encouragement, and receive prayer.

93.1 is the first radio station to provide so many hours of Gospel content. It airs five (5) hours of Gospel content every day from Monday to Saturday (3am to 8am), and nine (9) hours on Sundays (3am to 12pm). The many hours of Gospel content on the Gospel Plane makes this program and this radio station a pioneer.

Moreover, while I was away studying in Jamaica, my wife (Ernella Garner) listened to the Gospel Plane program.  This was one of the means in which God strengthened her faith while I was absent from our home for three school years. She also used this program to keep track of the time as she prepared our daughter for nursery school, our son for day care, and herself for work. When she heard advertisements and the program’s host (Mr. Maxwell Thom), that meant that it was after 6am. The prayers of his mom (Sis. Lynette Thom) indicated that it could be between 6:30am and 7am. The call in segment meant that it was after 7am, and the sermon meant that it was around 7:30am. The constant time check provided by the program host also helped to confirm whether my wife was late or early in her preparations.

Each time the song for the Fly Jamaica advertisement played, our children sang along in excitement as they remembered that I traveled on that plane and anticipated my return on the same plane. Indeed, every time I came home I used Fly Jamaica.

I listened to the program whenever I came home on holidays and I continue to listen to it now that I have graduated. I am a loyal listener as a result of my wife, and I am among a large number of loyal listeners. The Gospel Plane program has impacted us and many people in many positive ways.

In addition to the many hours of Gospel content, another characteristic of this program that makes it and 93.1 a pioneer radio station, is the fact that this program makes us feel like one big family. We don’t feel like we are merely persons listening to a radio program, but we feel like we are a part of one big radio family. While some of the members of this family have been fortunate to get their calls through during the call-in segment, some have been trying for weeks, months, and even years. In fact, there are others who are yet to get through to the program. However, persons continue to try as they want everyone to know that they are a part of this family. In order to facilitate these persons, time is often provided for first time callers. My wife and I are yet to call into the program to let everyone know that we are also a part of this big radio family. The Gospel Plane program is one of the reasons that 93.1 Real FM can claim that it is “The People’s Choice.”

As a pastor I recommend that all persons (whether you are a Christian or not ) listen to this program which is one that God uses to help people express what they are going through, be encouraged, and find strength in God for whatever challenges they face.

Tune in today to become a part of this radio family and call, text, or encourage your friends, family, and everyone you know to tune in to 93.1. As Bro. Max often says, “You never know what you are doing for that person.”
