It's time for a patriotic mindset and someday all Guyanese will possess it

A picture of the clock on my wall

I was up at 3 in the morning thinking about this article when God gave me the idea for its title and content. I wanted to go to bed but I couldn't until I got the ideas out of my head and into a place where I could easily retrieve same.

I looked at the clock on my wall which is in the shape of the Guyana Map with the Guyana Flag in the middle close to the top, and the word Guyana at its base. This clock is absolutely beautiful craftsmanship and I am thankful to the manager and staff who gave my wife and I this beautiful present.

When they thought of a gift to give us for our wedding anniversary, they knew that once it was about Guyana we would love it. They know that my wife and I love Guyana.

I speak positively about Guyana every day. I wear something that represents Guyana every day.  I represent the 592 every day whether I am at home or overseas. I promote my country every day and I have always been proud to let people know that I am Guyanese.

What I possess is a mindset. It is a patriotic mindset. It is a mindset that is essential for Guyana's development. This is a mindset that Guyanese at home and abroad must possess, and a time is coming when all Guyanese will have this mindset.

Long before President Barack Obama made the statement popular, W.R.A. Pilgrim, in his national song entitled, “Let us Co-operate” posited, “Yes we can.” Yes we can and will have a Guyanese patriotism like never before.

A time is coming when Guyanese will no longer desire to go overseas but will desire to return home.

A time is coming when Guyanese overseas will proudly speak in their Guyanese accent and will be proud to let everyone know that they are Guyanese.

A time is coming when National Songs will be sung in the schools again, and the youngest child to the oldest person will have a high sense of patriotism. A time is coming when all Guyanese will be proud of their homeland, Guyana.

A time is coming when Guyanese will not believe that a foreign product is better than the local product because it is a foreign product.

A time is coming when the Guyana dollar will have great value.

A time is coming when Guyanese drivers will be hospitable.

A time is coming when sports in Guyana and Guyanese athletes will receive full financial support and realize their full potential. A time is coming when Guyanese athletes will be sponsored by Guyanese brand names locally and overseas.

A time is coming when Guyana will export more than it imports. A time is coming when farming in Guyana will be done on a very large scale. A time is coming when Guyana will manufacture more than ever before.

A time is coming when land (house lots) in Guyana will be much more affordable than it is now.

A time is coming when Guyana will be the best model of a Green economy for the rest of the world.

A time is coming when all Guyanese will refuse to litter and always keep their environment clean.

A time is coming when a Guyanese census will find Guyana’s population to be more than two million people.

A time is coming when Guyanese music will dominate the airwaves.

A time is coming when all Guyanese scholars will make it their duty to write at least one book.

A time is coming when Guyana will be one of the leading nations in ecotourism.

A time is coming when the school system will not merely prepare people to become employees, but will train them to become employers.

A time is coming when people from all over the world will come to Guyana to become qualified in various fields.

A time is coming when at least 45% of Guyana’s population will be bilingual.

A time is coming when Guyanese will win the Miss World and Miss Universe pageants.

A time is coming when positive topics on Guyana will be household conversations that take place around the world.

A time is coming when the Love for Guyana Blog will be daily household conversations.

A time is coming when there will be a Guyanese patriotic movement.

A time is coming when all Guyanese and lovers of Guyana around the world will fully support the Love for Guyana Blog.

A time is coming when Guyanese will truly have a mindset of “One people, one nation, and one destiny.”

Indeed, it's time for a patriotic mindset and surely someday, by God's grace, all Guyanese will possess this mindset."
