The man who has been to Guyana 27 times

Dr. Ray Rist and I on his 27th trip to Guyana

For over a decade Dr. Ray Rist has been traveling to Guyana to facilitate capacity building in the area of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) for the Government of Guyana through the Ministry of Finance (MoF). Despite of open heart surgery in recent months, he made his 27th trip to Guyana. It is evident that he loves what he does and he loves Guyana.
He is familiar with Guyanese food and Guyanese hospitality and he makes reference to both. He has already made considerations for his next trip to the place he fondly refers to as "Georgetown, Guyana," and indicated that he is pursing becoming an honourary Guyanese.

Dr. Rist, an American author of several books including "The Invisible Children: School Integration in American Society" and "The Road to Results: Designing and Conducting Effective Development Evaluations," is one of the creators and Co-Director of the International Programme for Development Evaluation Training (IPDET). He served for more than a decade in the United States Government including the time of President Clinton, to whom he reported, and he served in the Independent Evaluation Group of the World Bank.

Myself and the thirty (30) plus persons who participated in the graduate level course training by Dr. Rist, which requires 70% to pass, are grateful to him for an enlightening workshop. We have been provided with tools that can help us to contribute towards positive outcomes and impacts for this beautiful land called Guyana.
