For over twenty (20) years, Basil Bradshaw has been hosting the “Wake Up Guyana Show” on Hoyte Blackman Television (NBTV) Channel 9. The 8th of December this year will make it 22 years. Bradshaw’s primary objective is to wake up the nation to news and information. His routine on the program includes reading the captions on the front and back pages of the Kaieteur Newspapers, highlighting current issues, allowing persons to call in on the program, interviewing various guests, extending birth and anniversary greetings to viewers, playing music, and providing regular time checks. The call in segment allows persons to share their grievances so that persons listening can help. He frequently reminds persons to be responsible and not to slander persons when they call into the program. The music played is mainly Guyanese music and about 5% is Caribbean music.” Mr. Bradshaw told me that “In short, the show is basically to inform, educate, and entertain.”
The program is aired every Monday,
Wednesday, and Friday from 9-10am. Tune in to the next program.
